SEA Youth Sailing Programs

Co-sponsored by Marin Yacht Club

Sailing Education Adventures’ Sail Camp is one of the best ways for children to learn to sail in The Bay Area. It offers intensive instruction on 12'- 14’ sailboats, as well as lessons on boat safety and seamanship.  And most importantly, Sail Camp fosters teamwork and individual self-confidence. All classes are taught by experienced instructors certified by the US. Sailing Association.

SEA is a non-profit community sailing organization dedicated to providing affordable instruction in the art of sailing and encouraging care for the marine environment. Join us on the water for this exciting and educational sailing experience.

We are immensely grateful for our long-term partners Marin Yacht Club and Loch Lomond Marina who provide space and facility support for our youth and adult sailing programs.

Mini - Introductory

Introductory half-day sessions introduce younger children to sailing. Light morning breezes give younger children an opportunity to start learning about wind, water, safety, and fun. Sail Camp Counselors sail in the boats with Mini Campers to directly teach sailing skills in small groups. Each student rotates through the different responsibilities of sailing (steering, controlling the sails, etc) with direct assistance from the on-board Counselor. Youths are taught basic sailing skills in our sloop-rigged, 16.5-foot Catalinas by our experienced staff.

This Advanced Mini Camp will build on prior experience and allow campers to do more advanced sailing in the stronger afternoon winds. As opposed to Introductory Mini Camp, the goal will be to get students comfortable sailing on their own with counselor assistance from a safety boat close by thus teaching students self-confidence and problem-solving skills along with refining their sailing technique. Youths are taught in our sloop-rigged, 16.5-foot Catalinas by our experienced staff.

Parents, campers, instructors, and friends will celebrate the end of Basic Sail Camp at a graduation held at Marin Yacht Club where certificates and awards will be presented.

Youth Weekend Sailing

Youth Weekend Sailing is for youth sailors who have previously participated in the SEA Summer Sail Camp ( Age 11-16 and Basic/Intermediate Camp or higher).

Based on parent feedback, we are switching up how we have done this in the past. Rather than signing up for a whole series, you can sign up for the dates that work for your family.

We encourage you to pick 2-3 dates at least to give your child some continuity with sailing.

In order to accommodate this approach, we need a minimum number of sign-ups (3) for any given session. If we don’t have enough participants in time (1 week before the date) we may cancel that date. In case of cancelation we will provide a full refund for that date.

    • Ages: 11-16

    • Size: 6 participants

    • Location: Loch Lomond Marina 110 Loch Lomond Dr, A Dock

    • Boats: Quests, possibly Zests depending on interest.

    • Dates:  4/6, 4/13, 4/20, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11

    • Time: 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

    • Cost: $70/session
